Do you have an autistic child or young person? Does your child/ young person have a learning disability?
If so then we would like to invite you to join our parent panel that will be involved in developing Lyndene House* – a new, innovative short breaks and outreach support service benefiting children & young people with autism and/or learning disabilities. The service would particularly benefit children & young people who are on the edge of care.
Members of the parent panel will get an opportunity to attend meetings with Barnardo’s & other local partners who are involved in the project, and to visit the site of this new service. There will be options to get involved in the short term development of the project as well as in the long term oversight of the service.
For this first meeting on the 12th of October, we will give you a background on the Lyndene project and there will be an opportunity to feed into the interview process for prospective staff who would be involved with the service. We will think about questions to ask during the interview, model answers, etc.
If you would like to get involved but can’t attend this meeting, please let us know and we’ll keep you in mind for future opportunities to get involved.
What does “edge of care” mean?
Edge of care refers to a situation where a child or young person is at risk of entering the looked after system.
The aim of edge of care services is to prevent escalation of risk and to keep the child/ young person safely with their family and in their own community.

* The service is currently known as Lyndene House but this will change following families’ involvement to rename it.
