This is a free workshop for parents & carers of children & young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in Manchester. The session will be hosted by Contact on behalf of the forum.

It is common for all children to display behaviour which can be difficult to understand or manage as a parent. The behaviour of children with additional needs can be particularly challenging to deal with.

Following the disruption caused by the lockdown and other COVID-19 restrictions, there have been challenges for many children and their families around transitioning to new or changed routines or environments, or re-establishing routines and activities. This may have affected your child’s behaviour in different ways and brought extra challenge around supporting their needs, as well as the well-being and safety of yourself and your family.

This online workshop gives you the opportunity to:

  • gain a general understanding of the origins and purpose of behaviour
  • understand more about what might be causing a particular behaviour or set of behaviours
  • hear other parents’ experiences
  • share as much or as little of your story as you wish
  • learn new strategies to support your child
  • explore how you can obtain further help and guidance if you need it

This workshop will be held on Zoom. We can give advice on how to use Zoom before the workshop is held, if you require this. If you prefer to not be visible or audible on screen, that is fine by us.
