DESCRIPTION:This Carers Week\, we have partnered again with Shiloh’s Way and Ronaldo Thierry Johnson Foundation for a Well-being Day and celebration! \nJoin us for a chat\, some nice food\, and indulge in self-care activities with fellow parents and carers of children/ young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in the city of Manchester. \nWe’re going to have: \n\nBack Massage – There will be a back massage machine available on the day for anyone that wants to access it.\nMusic and Dance – Give yourself a boost by dancing to some feel-good music!\nWellness Arts – Painting is said to be a great way to relieve ourselves from anxiety and worries.\nCupcake Decoration – Make your own cupcake to take home.\nGames – Enjoy some friendly games with fellow parents and carers.\nInformation Packs – Learn about different services and support groups that may benefit your family.\n\nWe will serve lunch and refreshments so please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking. \n.fusion-button.button-1 {border-radius:2px;}Book NowAbout Our Partners\nShiloh’s Way Parent/Carer Support Group is a parent-led group for parents and carers of African-Caribbean heritage who care for children with Autism and other additional needs. They provide culturally appropriate care\, support\, and advocacy for families facing the challenges of raising children with SEND. \nIt is apparent that African-Caribbean families feel they are not being heard and understood culturally or religiously. There is a feeling of discrimination that families feel they face\, which affects communication with educational provisions and other services that their children and young adults need to engage with. These experiences often lead to a breakdown in communication with Education and other services\, which leads to carers feeling overwhelmed and burning out. \nShiloh’s Way assists in bridging the gap in service provision and improve cultural understanding amongst organisations and professionals. \nRonaldo Thierry Johnson Foundation (RTJF) was created in Ronaldo Johnson’s memory. They support young people with the things that Ronaldo’s friends said he used to do for others\, such as supporting young people to get through education\, life skills such as interview preparation\, CV writing\, cooking\, road safety\, school lunches & including young people with SEND. \nSource: www.carersweek.org \nAbout Carers Week\nCarers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring\, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face\, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
