On this day, we, together with a group of Parent Champions, will be reviewing some Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure their quality and ensure that the voice of the child/ young person and their family is the “golden thread” that runs through the plans.

This parent panel moderation is a key activity in improving the overall quality of plans, with feedback being shared to the EHCP Team manager and the SEND Board as an avenue for learning on top of improving the individual plans that have been reviewed.

As we are currently expanding the panel of parents that join these moderation activities, today’s session will include a training presentation for new recruits to be introduced to the panel’s work and for existing members to get a ‘refresher’ of our quality standards.

Thank you for your interest in joining the EHCP moderation panel.

As we only have a limited number of places for this panel and we’ve already received more expressions of interest than there are available places, any new signups will be added to a waiting list that we will contact should new places become available in the future.

Thank you, everyone, for your dedication in making things better for Manchester families of children and young people with SEND!

Would you like to get involved?

If you are a parent/carer of a child or young person with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in Manchester and would like to become part of this EHCP moderation parent panel, please let us know ASAP, as we have limited places available.

If you are already part of the existing panel, please let us know if you will be able to join this session, as we need to know numbers for the purposes of booking lunch for the day. Please also check your email for some messages from Nuala Finegan, Manchester’s Senior School Quality Assurance Officer for SEND.
