You are invited to an informal session where Manchester City Council will be listening to parents and carers, to look at potential gaps as well as positive examples around Specialist Short Breaks, particularly in homecare.

We are looking for parents/carers who have a child, young person or adult with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) that currently or has previously received a specialist support package.

In particular, we would like to hear about your experience with:

  • Personal Care and Assistance Services – i.e., someone providing personal care for your child/ young person at home
  • Sitting Services – i.e., someone doing one-to-one play and interaction with your child/ young person at home
  • If your child/ young person accesses additional support to the above, we would love to hear about those too.

We will discuss what’s working, what needs improving, and what we need to think about when the person reaches the age of 25.

Please note that this session will be about feeding into improvement of homecare and Specialist Short Breaks rather than solving individual issues about the support you receive.

If you can’t attend the meeting but would still like to get involved, please kindly answer this 3-minute survey to help inform the service:
