The University of Manchester is undertaking a research study entitled “Exploring Patient and Carer Perspectives on Appointment Reminders in Healthcare Settings”, with which they want to find out what helps people get to their appointments and what makes it harder.

Most research has looked at whether reminders work, not at how people feel about them. Because of this, some reminder systems may not work well for everyone. By hearing from patients and carers, we can find out what helps people get to their appointments and what makes it harder. We can also find out how reminder systems can be made better for everyone.

The researchers are looking for adults who have received a hospital appointment reminder from the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) in the past six months (either for themselves or for someone they care for). The purpose of the study is to understand how people experience appointment reminders and how they could be improved to support better attendance.
