This Carers Week, we have partnered again with Ronaldo Thierry Johnson Foundation for a Well-being Day and celebration!

Join us for some nice food and indulge in self-care activities with fellow parents and carers of deaf, disabled and neurodivergent children and young people in the city of Manchester.

We’re going to have:

  • Back Massage – There will be a back/neck/arm massage machine available on the day for anyone that wants to access it.
  • Wellness Arts and Crafts – Painting and craft-making are said to be a great way to relieve ourselves from anxiety and worries.
  • Cupcake Decoration – Make your own cupcake to take home.
  • Games – Enjoy some friendly games with fellow parents and carers.
  • Information Stalls – Meet and learn about different services and support groups that may benefit you and your family.

We will also have a walking group (optional) that will explore the beautiful Longford Park that surrounds our venue. This group will meet at Firswood Community Centre before 10:30 for a quick walk around the park before the event’s 11am official start.

We will serve lunch and refreshments so please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking.

Get Involved:

We want to explore the barriers and challenges that parents and carers may have in accessing Health support and in taking care of oneself. We also want to find out what support you especially find helpful and what has worked for you in the past.

To do this, we will run an optional small group activity in a separate room at the community centre between 11:15am to 12:15pm.

If you wish to get involved, please make sure to let us know when you book for the event. (There will be a question about this on the booking form.)

About Our Partners

Ronaldo Thierry Johnson Foundation (RTJF) was created in Ronaldo Johnson’s memory. They support young people with the things that Ronaldo’s friends said he used to do for others, such as supporting young people to get through education, life skills such as interview preparation, CV writing, cooking, road safety, school lunches & including young people with SEND.

About Carers Week

Source: www.carersweek.org

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

It is celebrated on 8-14 June this year and the theme is “Building Carer Friendly Communities” – highlighting the impact that carer-friendly communities can have in making a real and lasting difference to the lives of carers everywhere..
