DESCRIPTION:Co-op Academy Manchester is hosting us for monthly SEND Coffee Mornings as part of the Neurodiversity in Schools project. \nThese informal sessions are for parents and carers with neurodivergent* children and young people currently going to this school. \nThe coffee mornings aim to: \n\nSupport parents and carers of children with SEND by connecting them to Manchester Parent Carer Forum and other families;\nShare feedback about what’s going well and what could be even better;\nOffer a chance to hear about and help shape developments from the SEND offer at Co-op Academy Manchester.\n\n\n* Neurodivergent is an umbrella term for anyone with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)\, autism\, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD or dyspraxia)\, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)\, dyslexia\, learning disability\, Tourette’s Syndrome\, and any other conditions/differences that are not considered ‘neurotypical’. \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Understanding Communication Differences (Central Manchester)
DESCRIPTION:This session is aimed at parents/carers of PRIMARY and SECONDARY school-aged children. *Other sessions in North and South Manchester are available also* \nThis workshop is led by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the Social Communication Pathway and will provide the opportunity to: \n\nDevelop your understanding of neurodiversity and communication.\nConsider different preferences and characteristics of communication.\nThink about the factors that can impact on communication.\nConsider your own communication.\nThink about environmental adjustments to support your child to communicate more easily.\nHear about the experiences of other families and share your own experiences if you wish.\n\nBiscuits\, tea and coffee will be provided. \nIf you need an interpreter to access the session\, please email ManchesterSCP.Workshops@mft.nhs.uk \nwith at least a week’s notice before the session.
