SUMMARY:Understanding Communication Differences (North Manchester)
DESCRIPTION:This session is aimed at parents/carers of PRIMARY and SECONDARY school-aged children.  \n  \nThis workshop is led by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the Social Communication Pathway and will provide the opportunity to: \n\nDevelop your understanding of neurodiversity and communication.\nConsider different preferences and characteristics of communication.\nThink about the factors that can impact on communication.\nConsider your own communication.\nThink about environmental adjustments to support your child to communicate more easily.\nHear about the experiences of other families and share your own experiences if you wish.\n\nBiscuits\, tea and coffee will be provided. \nIf you need an interpreter to access the session\, please email ManchesterSCP.Workshops@mft.nhs.uk \nwith at least a week’s notice before the session. DESCRIPTION:Do you have a neurodivergent* (ND) child or young person who goes to Southern Cross school or is supported through their outreach programme? \nIf you do\, we’d love for you to join us on at this parent group session – a great chance to meet other parents/carers of ND children\, share your experiences of school\, hear about the Neurodiversity in Schools (formerly called Autism in Schools) project\, and find out about support that may be available for your family. 🗣️☕🥐 \nThe session is open to all parents and carers of ND pupils who access Southern Cross\, whether they have a formal diagnosis or not. \nNo need to book; just drop in! (Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.) \n* Neurodivergent is an umbrella term for anyone with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)\, autism\, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD or dyspraxia)\, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)\, dyslexia\, learning disability\, Tourette’s Syndrome\, and any other conditions/differences that are not considered ‘neurotypical’. \n\n
