National Children’s Bureau Young Research Advisors Group

Manchester City Council’s Local Offer team recently shared with us this youth voice opportunity from the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) – the Young Research Advisors (YRA) Group!

Who are the Young Research Advisors?

The YRAs are a research advisory group that meet regularly to:

Advise on and co-design research methods and tools.
Understand and share interesting research findings.
Explore research priorities and questions.
Make sure young people’s voices are heard.

What do we talk about?

We meet online around 6 times a year to discuss a variety of topics. Recently, the group has talked about:

How to make research fair for different groups;
A major health study among teens and young adults;
The use of technology in schools and data protection for students.

Who can apply?

Children and young people who are aged 11-18, or up to 25 if you have a special educational need or disability.
You need to live in England or Northern Ireland.
No experience needed – just an interest in research and having your voice heard.

What happens when you are a Young Research Advisor?

You will meet new people by attending online meetings.
You will receive research training from NCB staff.
You will be given vouchers for taking part.
You may be able to take part in other opportunities that interest you.

How do I apply?

The deadline for applications is Friday 12th June.
