Manchester City Council has asked us to circulate two surveys which look into finding and using childcare outside of school hours. Please try to find time to respond, as it will help the local authority have a better understanding of how families of deaf, disabled and neurodivergent children access childcare in our city.

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have been asked to share two opportunities for parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) to provide feedback about childcare and early education services in Manchester.

School Age Childcare Survey (Children Aged 5+)

If your child is aged 5 or over and has SEND, we would like to hear about your experiences of looking for or using childcare outside of school hours, including before school clubs, after school clubs and holiday provision.

Your feedback will help improve understanding of the availability and accessibility of childcare for school-aged children with SEND.

Early Education and Childcare Survey (Children Aged 0-5)

We are also looking for feedback from parents and carers about their experiences of accessing early education and childcare in Manchester for a child with SEND.

We kindly ask that the surveys be submitted by the deadline of Monday 31st August 2026 – Update: The deadline has been extended to Sunday, the 20th of September.

Your views are important and will help shape future support and childcare provision for children and young people with SEND and their families.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences.

Kind regards,

Manchester City Council School Age Childcare Team
