SCP Sensory Workshop for Parents/Carers (Online)

This session is aimed at parents/carers of children over the age of 5.

The information will be delivered through a PowerPoint presentation, in addition to some small group work which will provide opportunities for discussing examples.

We do encourage you to ask questions as these sessions are to enable you to gain knowledge about available support and resources.

This session will include:

  • We will consider sensory differences amongst different people.
  • How sensory differences can present in autistic people
  • Signposting to useful sources of support

The group will be held virtually. The link for this will be made available to you after booking.

Booking is essential.

As a post-diagnostic workshop, this session is offered to parents and carers of children or young people who have received a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

This can be from any of the three Social Communication Pathway (SCP) teams – South Manchester (Carol Kendrick Centre), Central Manchester (The Powerhouse/ Winnicott Centre), and North Manchester (The Powerhouse/The Bridge).

Manchester Parent Carer Forum is a group of parents and carers of disabled children who work with Manchester Local Authorities, Education Settings, Health Providers and other providers to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and young people (0-25 years), as well as their families, in Manchester.

We have a steering group of parent and carer volunteers who lead this work and listen to the views of other parents and carers in the local area to make sure they know what is important to them.
