This session is aimed at parents/carers of PRIMARY and SECONDARY school-aged children. *Other sessions in Central and South Manchester are also available.*
This workshop is led by senior mental health professionals working in the Social Communication Pathway (SCP) and will provide the opportunity to:
- Develop your understanding of neurodiversity.
- Consider what being neurodivergent might mean for your child/young person.
- Think about factors that might impact on wellbeing for neurodivergent people.
- Learn about approaches to support wellbeing and how to access further help.
- Hear about the experiences of other families and share your own experiences if you wish.
Biscuits, tea and coffee will be provided.
If you need an interpreter to access the session, please email ManchesterSCP.Workshops@mft.nhs.uk with at least a week’s notice before the session. Each session can only cater for one interpreter so please contact the SCP team ASAP if you require one.

- Understanding Neurodiversity and Well-being
- Understanding Sensory Differences
- Understanding Communication Differences
- Understanding and Working with the Education System
Please note the workshops are aimed at city of Manchester residents and some of the resources and services discussed in the sessions will be Manchester-specific.

Important Notes:
Booking is essential. This is a parent-only session so please do not bring children to the workshop.
The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) has kindly opened the SCP workshops to all city of Manchester parents and carers. Your child does NOT have to have a formal diagnosis for parents/carers to access this workshop. If you are neurocurious and want to learn more about how you can support children or young people who are or may be neurodivergent then these workshops are for you!
