There is ongoing work to develop a strategy to give children in Manchester the best start in life.

The Start Well Strategy aims to shape how families experience the first 1000 days of their child’s life, which is fundamental to establishing good patterns and practices that form how that child grows up and the life that they will live. Their vision is to ensure every child grows up in a nurturing environment, with access to public service support helping youngsters to fulfill their potential as they move into primary and secondary education.

To help develop the strategy, Joanne Taylor – Reform and Innovation Officer at Manchester City Council – would like to speak to parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

She’s interested to hear SEND parents’ experiences. She wants to know what is good and what could be better in Manchester in order to support all parents/carers and children to have the best start in life.

We invite YOU to get involved and join us at the meeting.

Start Well: Creating a better future for families

We want all children to be school ready by the time they enter the classroom for the first time. In order to achieve that health and social care professionals, councils and education providers must all work together to help families with complex problems build stable home lives for their children.

Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership

There is also an opportunity to get involved for staff and volunteers who work in Manchester with young children, parents of young babies and children, pregnant women and other people who are preparing to have children.
