As part of Manchester’s Post Diagnostic Package, you are invited to attend a face-to-face Autism Post Diagnostic Group (PDG). Please note this group has limited spaces so please book on early to avoid disappointment.

What will the session cover?

  • We will start by considering what Autism means to your child/ family.
  • We will consider what Autism is, considering strengths and positives whilst also considering myths and viewing the world through an Autism lens.
  • We will consider language and communication strategies and signpost you to useful sources of help and resources.
  • We will consider sensory differences, and signpost to useful sources of support.
  • We will consider stress and how this can impact upon an individual’s behavior, discussing services which may provide additional support.
  • We will consider Education and the available support you and a young person can access.
  • Finally, we will signpost to local resources.

How will this information be provided?

This information will be delivered through a PowerPoint presentation, in addition to some small group work which will provide opportunities for discussing examples.

We do encourage you to ask questions, as these sessions are to enable you to gain knowledge about available support and resources.

The group will be running on Monday, 10th July 2023; it is an all day session with an approximate start time of 9:30am until around 2:30pm.

The session will be held at the Martenscroft Children’s Centre, 33 Epping Street, Hulme, Manchester M15 6PA.

Please note, the face-to-face session has limited capacity, so please make sure to opt in as soon as possible if this is what you would prefer.

Please be aware this is a parent-only session so you should not bring your child to the workshop.

As a post-diagnostic workshop, this session is only being offered to parents and carers of children or young people who have received a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

This can be from any of the three Social Communication Pathway (SCP) teams – South Manchester (Carol Kendrick Centre), Central Manchester (The Powerhouse/ Winnicott Centre), and North Manchester (The Powerhouse/The Bridge).
