The Dingley’s Promise Early Years Inclusion Project aims to transform early education for children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) by building inclusion across Early Years settings. With the support of Comic Relief funding, Dingley’s Promise charity are working with 30 local authorities over 5 years to improve education and develop inclusive practice amongst those working with young children with SEND.
In 2022, Manchester signed up for the initiative, which opens up the series of ten courses to Manchester’s Early Years practitioners, settings, and parents/carers of young children with SEND. It is expected that the training and shared resources will increase learners’ awareness of the needs of all children, especially those with SEND, and their confidence in supporting the education and well-being of all children in their setting. The training programme is available online and can be accessed free of charge by local practitioners and parents/carers.
Manchester Parent Carer Forum is heavily involved with the project, with representation at the local stakeholder group as well as at the national parent board. This helps ensure that co-production with families is at the heart of the project, both locally in Manchester and on a wider scale across the country.
