Join us and Z-Arts for an afternoon of creative activities this summer!
We have a fun-filled schedule including:
- A visit inside Z-Arts’ Adventures in Wonderland interactive play experience! Fall down the rabbit hole and have your very own magical adventure! (Ideal for children aged 1-8 – Click this to learn more!)
- An art workshop! Join us in a crafty session to create little books/zines for families to decorate/illustrate and write in.
This event is exclusively for families of children & young people who have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) living in the city of Manchester. Siblings without SEND are welcome to join!
Important Notes:
- The Adventures in Wonderland activity is designed for children aged 1-8 years but please feel free to join us if you think your child will enjoy it.
- We have reduced capacity across the activities to cater for disabled and neurodivergent children who may struggle with larger crowds.
1:30-2:30pm – Adventures in Wonderland
2:30-2:45pm – break time
3-4pm – Workshop with artist Kirsty in Art Room
4pm – Goodbyes as the building closes
- Follow the White Rabbit into scenes from the beloved book
- Crawl through tunnels, splash around in a ball‑pool, play croquet with flamingos
- Dress as your favourite characters, get lost in a card maze
- Have tea as the Mad Hatter, plus so much more!
Kirsty, our artist-facilitator on the day, used to run Z-Arts’ weekly “Creative Care: Art for Kids with Additional Needs” – inclusive art sessions that celebrate diverse ways of thinking & learning.
She is skilled in encouraging and valuing each child’s creative ideas, giving them the freedom to experiment and try new approaches should they wish to. Whether your child is confident in their art or just starting out, this workshop provides a calming space to learn, express themselves, and gain confidence, with their unique perspectives encouraged and celebrated!
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
Much thanks to Z-Arts for facilitating and hosting the session.
We’d also like to thank Manchester City Council’s SEND Local Offer for making this possible.
