On Monday, we joined an NNPCF national engagement session with Minister Gould and many other Parent Carer Forums (PCFs) from around the country, to talk about the upcoming SEND reforms.

We were asked:

  • What accountability is needed in a reformed system to support an effective, inclusive mainstream education system?
  • What are the key foundations for building parent carer trust across the system?

The PCFs were involved in a live discussion where we shared lots of ideas and gave extensive feedback about the SEND system and what we would like to see from the reforms. It was amazing to see so many PCFs being represented from all over the country! The shared knowledge, lived experience and genuine love for our SEND community was incredible to see and hear.

The Minister acknowledged that the system is in crisis and agreed that the pressures on everyone are immense. She also recognized the strength and importance of our parent-carer views.

If you would like to add your ideas or share any feedback, today is the last day to get involved ahead of the publication of the Schools White Paper.

These conversations are open to everyone – from parents and carers to those working in schools, colleges and early years. Please share your views to help shape the system our children and young people deserve.
