On this day, 9 November, Well Pharmacy will be visiting us and Martenscroft Sure Start Centre with their “mobile health clinics“, which will offer free flu jabs and routine services such as blood pressure checks to parent-carers* of people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
The van contains two consultation rooms staffed by a pharmacist, and we are lucky and happy to say that the pharmacist who will be with us is a fellow Manchester parent-carer.
* If you are the full-time carer for someone, it is advised that you take advantage of the free flu jab to protect both yourself and the person you care for. If you catch the flu and become too ill to leave home, it may be more difficult or impossible for you to continue looking after the person you care for.
Who qualifies as a carer?
You will be eligible for the free flu jab if you meet ANY of the following criteria:
- You are the primary carer for someone who can’t look after themselves; OR
- You receive a Carer’s Allowance.
Please visit Well Pharmacy’s website for more information.
Who else qualifies for the free jab?
You are also eligible if you:
- Have a learning disability; OR
- Have a neurological condition such as epilepsy or Parkinson’s Disease; OR
- Have a heart or lung condition; OR
- Have diabetes; OR
- Are elderly (aged 50 or above); OR
- Are pregnant.
Please visit the NHS website for more information.
