Let’s go for a visit to this all-new festive experience at Mayfield Park / Freight Island! Join us for a walk around the park and step into “a brand-new, family-friendly experience filled with light, play, and a touch of magic” at the Twilight Tales.
Explore festive light installations and themed zones, including:
The Icicle Cave, filled with twinkling frost
The Spirograph Tunnel, weaving webs of light
The Mirrorball Cave, a dazzling corridor of reflections
The Twilight Express and North Pole Playground
Plus, enjoy free face painting, marshmallow toasting, and festive treats.
- A member of the MPCF team will welcome you at the entrance between 6:45 to 7:15pm.
- Entrance timings are strict but, once inside, you can stay for as long as you like.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The tickets that you will receive via Eventbrite are NOT the official Twilight Tales tickets. We will email you the official tickets once your application is approved.
- You are responsible for your own children’s safety throughout the session.
- As part of the SEND Community Offer, this event is exclusively for families of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) who live in the city of Manchester.

While we have booked plenty of tickets to help ensure that many attendees for this time slot (7pm start time) are families of children and young people with SEND, please note that this is NOT an exclusive booking for our families.
However, the park and the trail are quite accessible from our experience, so we hope that everyone enjoys the session nonetheless. 🙂
Yes. Accessible toilet facilities are available on-site within Freight Island and near the main event area.

The Twilight Trail has ONLY one entrance. The address is Freight Island, 11 Baring St, Manchester M1 2PZ
There is NO ENTRANCE OR EXIT from/to Hoyle Street.

Parking
Limited parking is available nearby at Mayfield Car Park and other city centre locations. We encourage visitors to use public transport, with Manchester Piccadilly just a short walk away.

Absolutely! Twilight Tales is designed for families, with interactive zones and play spaces perfect for little adventurers.
It takes approximately 30 mins to walk around the light show but you are welcome to enjoy it at your own pace.
Guests are welcome to stay as long as they wish.
Unfortunately, food and drink are not permitted in the venue.
There are a number of stalls including hot chocolate, mulled wine, and festive treats from Freight Island’s vendors. You can also go a visit any of the traders within Freight Island.
For every child or family Twilight Tales ticket that’s bought, you can get one free Kids meal per child with every Adults meal purchased. You must have a valid Kids or Family Twilight Tales ticket to be scanned at the vendor within Freight Island when ordering. All food orders must be placed with the food vendor and not via QR ordering. All rights reserved. Child tickets includes one free kids meal offer at Freight Island, and a Family ticket includes 2x free kids meal offers.
