The “Good Week Offer” is a new Preparing for Adulthood project that will be piloted in Manchester in 2024.

We recognise that too many young people leaving specialist college provision, and their families, do not know what their next steps are.

We are starting to think about how we can improve Preparation for Adulthood (PfE)
outcomes for young people by developing a strong “Good Week” offer. A Good Week Offer can combine different elements of an education, health and social care service or provision. The primary aim is to be ‘person-centered’ and to think about all aspects of a young person’s life – what activities they enjoy, who they like to spend time with, and what they will do each week that will help them to thrive as an adult.

Manchester Parent Carer Forum is a group of parents and carers of disabled children who work with Manchester Local Authorities, Education Settings, Health Providers and other providers to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and young people (0-25 years), as well as their families, in Manchester.

We have a steering group of parent and carer volunteers who lead this work and listen to the views of other parents and carers in the local area to make sure they know what is important to them.
