The MPCF Team gathered a list of SEND-friendly activities and events happening across Greater Manchester this half-term (and in the couple of weeks following) and we’d like to share it with you. Do forgive us if this post seems rushed, as it is indeed rushed – we are parent-carers ourselves! 🙂
This is going to be a dynamic list, as we will keep adding stuff in whenever we find out about new events and/or if fellow parent-carers share more information with us. We encourage parents and organisations to share info about SEND events with us so more parent-carers can learn about them.
For those who want to click on the event links for more info, you can do so by accessing our Google Sheet.
Also, check out the following activities available to families throughout the week:
- Simply CyclingSimply Cycling offers inclusive cycling to people of all abilities, with sessions running across three venues in Manchester (Boggart Hole Clough, Longford Park, Wythenshawe Park) throughout the week.
-
Billy and Andy’s Halloween Music School
We saw this on B&A’s Facebook page recently but are not sure if there are any places left. Please contact Billy and Andy beforehand to avoid disappointment.
- Boomerang Sensory Play Centre
Boomerang is a multi sensory play centre based in Bury. They have 3 custom designed play rooms, a 5-star graded cafe plus accessible toilets & changing room facilities. All play rooms have soft padded walls and floors with hoists to allow children with mobility problems to access each area.
- Free Swimming (Under 17)Did you know that Manchester’s under 17s can swim for free at any “Swim for All” session during school holidays (and at selected times on weekends)? (Carers can go for free.) You can learn more at Better’s website.
The Manchester SEND Local Offer
Remember, you can also check the SEND Local Offer for information about what’s on for SEND families throughout the city.
Aside from listings of activities and events for SEND families happening across Manchester, the Local Offer contains all sorts of information that would be useful for people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their parents/carers. This includes info about services and support available for Education, Health and Social Care; the law and your rights; travel and transport; and many more!
