In celebration of Co-production Week, we are pleased to share with you a few words from Maureen Howell (Manchester City Council’s SEND Engagement & Young Carers Lead) and Maria Simpkin (Manchester City Council’s Engagement Manager & Local Offer Coordinator), who wanted to express their appreciation for the passion and willingness of the SEND parent-carer community to work with the local authority in improving services across Manchester.

In Manchester, we are lucky to have an incredible community of parents and carers who are willing to work with us. Our SEND Co-production Charter provides the framework for us all to work together, keeping children and young people at the heart of everything we do.

We deeply appreciate the time and effort parents give to working with us to create the culture of co-production and collaborative working.

Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF) is pivotal in leading and collating the Manchester Working Together Network, bringing together a diverse voice of parents and carers to influence change. The network provides challenge and support enabling service improvements which are often parent-led.  We are grateful to MPCF and all our parents and carers who work closely with them to do this.
