Portsmouth is a port city and naval base on England’s south coast, mostly spread across Portsea Island.
With regards to the “SEND space”, Portsmouth is known for piloting and first developing the use of a Neurodiversity (ND) Profiling Tool in the UK. You can read about Portsmouth’s ND profiling model here: https://portsmouthlocaloffer.org/information/the-neurodiversity-nd-profiling-tool/
Here in Manchester, we are looking at developing a neuroprofiling tool in order to be better able to support neurodivergent children before and/or while they are waiting for a formal assessment. Neuroprofiling is a way of mapping children and young peoples differences – their strengths and needs – across domains such as communication, energy levels, sensory experiences.
If you are a parent/carer of a child with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) living in Portsmouth, or if you’re a Manchester parent/carer looking to visit or move there, we suggest reaching out to Portsmouth Parent Voice (PPV). They are the Parent Carer Forum there and may be able to help. :)
