Julie Hicklin, Manchester City Council’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Lead, recently sent us a letter expressing appreciation of the forum and of our Manchester Working Together Network.

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing on behalf of the SEND Board to thank you for your amazing work this year – making sure that the views of parents and carers of children and young people with SEND are represented and that services are improving through co-production with families.

We are fortunate to work in partnership with so many committed, talented, generous people. We want to let you know how much we appreciate your contribution to making education, health and care services better for children with SEND.

Some highlights of your work this year are the Working Together Conference and the Social Communication pilot – which is speeding up the pathway to assessment and is very popular with the families who have experienced it. The SEND Board really values the information from the regular parent carer survey as a way of hearing what is working well and what could be improved.

Thank you once again and we look forward to working together in 2020.

We wish you an enjoyable festive break and a happy new year.

Julie
