A Supported Internship is a work-based study programme for 16 to 24-year-olds with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) who have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
Internships involve students enrolling and being supported by a learning provider (for example, a school or college) while spending most of their learning time in a workplace. This means that the students (i.e., interns) are in full-time education and their supported internship work placement are part of their course.
