We have recently been contacted by Starling, a charity that uses creativity and the arts to amplify the lived experience of neurodivergent young people, to bring good news about their “Creative Take Aways” project.

The project, which makes free Creative Wellbeing Packs and access to a Creative Wellbeing Service available for all neurodivergent young people aged 13-25 in Oldham and Tameside, is now available in Manchester!

Neurodivergent refers to young people with experience of Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Tourette’s, Learning Disability, Mental Health issues or Trauma related issues (i.e. having been in care or had adverse childhood experiences).

All participants in “Creative Take Aways” will receive:

  • A creativity wellbeing pack sent in the post. This will include creative materials (colouring pencils, felt-tips, sketchbook, tissue paper, glue, safety scissors, pencil, sharpener, watercolour paints, paintbrush etc.) and “a space to get creative booklet” designed by a local artist.
  • One-to-one or small group virtual sessions via FaceTime or Whatsapp
  • Access to online creative wellbeing activities via YouTube, Facebook or Instagram

You can refer a participant into the project via this online registration form (self-referrals are welcome):

Upon receipt of your referral, Starling will then get in touch, send out the “Take Away” box, and link you/the young person up to Whatsapp, Instagram or Facebook.

If you would like to know more or have any questions or queries please email Katie or contact Starling via their website.
