Many people with a disability need extra equipment and space to allow them to use toilets safely and comfortably. While standard accessible toilets may not meet these needs, they can be met by Changing Places toilets.
For example, people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, or those with limited mobility, need equipment to help them get on the toilet or may need support from a carer(s) to either use the toilet or to have their continence pad changed.
Changing Places will have changing benches or hoists, as well as more space to accommodate more than one person. These facilities minimise risk for both the disabled person and their family. They benefit not only in terms of safety & comfort but also with hygiene & dignity.
